Weather: Sunny 17C
Water Temp: 9C
River: Nashwaak (Taymouth)
Was expecting company so I didn't venture away from home. After last night I was looking forward to getting down to my back yard anyhow. Unfortunately the sun didn't pop up until much later in the day, and mixed with the rain in the late morning the water was colder than yesterday. I did get a small 6" brookie on a green wooly bugger, but that was it.
The Stone fly hatch happened much later, in lesser numbers, and the trout were more sluggish. I did get a hand full of them to rise for a dry fly, but I was sluggish as well and missed them.
As it was getting dark I setup a small camp fire, and enjoyed an incredible light show as a thunder and lightening storm moved up the valley.

Day 7
Weather: Sunny with cloudy patches, 16C
Water Temp: 12C
River: Nashwaak (Taymouth)
Decided to be lazy today and just head down to my back yard. Am I ever glad I didn't venture up the river.
Right off the bat got a 12-13" brookie, followed by another 2 in the 8-10 range. Moved down stream a bit, and a hatch started. Tied on a dry file, got another 2 in the 8-10 range. Between the mosquitoes eating me alive, and not wanting to be greedy I decided to call it a night.

Day 6
Started off the day above Stanley by a friends camp (will post pics taken by others later). Nothing took, but we did see a rise.
When I was coming home I figured I would hit up one of my "sure thing" spots, and told myself I would only stay until I either lost a fly, or really made a mess of my line - so I wasn't expecting to be there long. Surprisingly I caught 2 ~8" brookies, and hooked something bigger but lost it.
When I got home I went back down to the river. My neighbors were already there, and had caught a trout earlier. I hooked something big, but lost it before I could get it close enough for a picture.

Day 5
Weather: Cloudy with Showers
River: Nashwaak (Durham, Peniac)
Long day, with 3 different stops. I was planning on heading up river to a couple of my "sure thing" spots, but after hearing the Sea Trout where heading past Marysville I figured I would head down river instead. On the way home to grab my gear, I saw someone with what looked to be a fish on (now I suspect they just hooked a log or something) near the Dunbar.
So the first stop was Dunbar, then Peniac, then a little below. Down that way the river was pretty featureless, but not too bad considering it's only April 19th.
Tomorrow I may head up river, and see if I can actually post some pictures of fish. I'm also going to start fishing at my place every day to make sure I don't miss the Sea Trout when they start coming through.

Day 4
Water temp: ?? C
Weather: Overcast & showers 6C
River: Miramichi Headwaters (Half Moon Pool)
Sorry, no pictures (Jeff's fault).
Wasn't there very long, just stopped to kill some time before the MHSF dinner. Water is pretty low for this time of year, and clear. Not low enough for wading though. Boat or canoe is probably the way to go for now. Tomorrow I'll be hitting 2 tributaries of the Nashwaak.

Day 3
Water temp: 8C
Weather: Overcast & Drizzle 5C
River: Tay
Used my 5wt 7.5' today. Still a whole lot of nothing. On the sunny side of things I did get some decent roll casting in since I didn't have my waders, and there was no room for a back cast. There weren't any misquitos either!
Tomorrow I may fish the Miramichi Head Waters for a bit before heading to the MHSF dinner. If not I'll definitely check out the Nashwaak by Stanley.

Day 2
Water temp: 10C
Weather: Clear 8C
River: Nashwaak
I switched to a sinking tip line today. Unfortunately the river came down even more, and I ended up donating a few flies to the river bed + my tippet. I'm going to keep it on my reel for now because I hope to get up to the Miramichi for some black salmon in the coming weeks. So tomorrow I'll be using my 5wt, probably on the Tay river.
Tonight I'm going to work some on the NB Fly Fishing Maps, and put together my wish list for files to pick up tomorrow @ Fredericton Outfitters.
